Golden Rule for Balance

Striking the right balance between style and function in your space can be tough. Determining the proportions of your room is a good place to start and we recommend trying this out for yourself. The golden ratio (mathematically defined), also known as the 60/40 rule (the approximate guideline) is worth considering as you plan your space. Plainly put, 60% of your room should be dominated by a primary element, with the remaining 40% for a secondary one.

This guideline can be applied in many ways. For instance, keeping 60% of your kitchen benchtop completely clear for food preparation, entertaining or other tasks allows you a comfortable 40% for appliances and fixtures.
