Tactile And Delicious – The Kitchen Of Today

2 min read

No longer a utilitarian work area, today’s kitchen has evolved into an additional living space, in its own right – at once soothing and comfortable, with refined detailing and subtle character.

Kitchen styled by Fenton & Fenton, featuring Caesarstone® Excava™ mineral surface benchtops and splashback

With a focus on curves, natural materials, textures and soft colour, the beauty is in the detail.

This kitchen (styled by Fenton & Fenton) features a rounded island bench, in Caesarstone® Excava™ surface, supported by a pedestal clad in stone finger tiles. The curved profile of the bench is far more inviting and convivial to gatherings of friends and family than the traditional square or rectangular format. Texture comes in the form of the beautiful rough hewn patina of Excava and its rich drifts of deep auburns, chestnuts and copper.

The slab splashback, also in Caesarstone® Excava™, adds an instant focal point and creates a visual link between the natural grain of the herringbone timber floor, the island bench and the timber and leather stools.

The introduction of the soft sage cabinetry, in a colour such as Wattyl Kelp Strand, is the masterstroke – it immediately imbues a sense of calm and serenity. The organic white of Wattyl Stalactite, on the walls, allows the viewer to take a breath, and savour the seductive layering of colour and texture.

And while aesthetics and durability are key considerations of any kitchen, sustainability is of equal importance. This kitchen is built to last, with nothing requiring replacement in the foreseeable future. The Caesarstone® Excava™ worksurfaces carry a lifetime warranty, while the Wattyl I.D. Advanced Kitchen & Bathroom Ultra low VOC paint is one of the lowest VOC interior paints available.
