With black emerging as the must-have colour for contemporary homes and interiors, interior designers are introducing black into kitchens on a grander scale, pairing black cabinets with Caesarstone benchtops to create luxurious kitchen designs.

We’ve selected eight inspirational kitchens by Australia’s leading interior designers and kitchen companies to show you the engineered stone benchtop colours they are choosing to pair with black cabinets to meet the client brief.

Kitchen 1 by Carrera by Design for Zac Homes Featuring Vanilla Noir™:

To meet the design brief for a ‘lux kitchen’, Carrera By Design pairs the beige and vanilla veining of Caesarstone® Vanilla Noir™ with polytec Black Venette and Copper Leaf cabinetry to create a timeless black kitchen for Zac Homes.

Striking the right balance against the neutral backdrop Carrera By Design explains “When given the colour palette, I knew what to do – a black kitchen with copper highlights. While the back wall is a feature, the island bench offers its own standout features, and Caesarstone Vanilla Noir was perfect to showcase this.”

For continuity, the look flows into the Butler’s Pantry, creating plenty of extra storage and workspace for a luxurious and practical design.

Kitchen 2 by Kitchens by Kathie Featuring White Attica™:

Kitchens by Kathie incorporate plenty of black, White Attica™ and timber accents to bring a modern edge to this small industrial style apartment. While too much black can make spaces feel small, the high vaulted ceilings and skylights let in plenty of natural light, creating a wonderful sense of space and proportion.

Kitchens By Kathie explains “This apartment sits within the classic Teneriffe ‘Woolstores’ building – an exquisite industrial-style space”. For the design, “We used a sleek traceless black for the cabinets and sprawling White Attica benchtops with a matching splashback.”

This unique kitchen, with its hidden pantry and study combination, offers the perfect blend of uncluttered living and modern functionality.

Kitchen 3  by Alby Turner & Son Featuring Airy Concrete™:

Alby Turner and Son create a magnificent kitchen design for this large home using Caesarstone® Airy Concrete™ for the two cantilevered kitchen islands and back benchtops.

Integrating a cooktop and space for seating into the kitchen island and a bar fridge in the second island creates plenty of workspace and versatility for the homeowner.

Benefiting from plenty of natural light, Alby Turner and Son pair the surfaces with black matte cabinetry finishes throughout. Light timber flooring elegantly ties all of the different material elements together for a stylish and cohesive finish.

Kitchen 4 by Built to Desire Featuring Organic White™:

Taking inspiration from their brief to match the exterior of the property Built to Desire uses the same colour palette and architectural form to create their kitchen design.

With the home being an investment property, it was important for the designer to keep costs to a minimum opting to maximise the budget pairing black melamine cabinets with the timeless appeal of Caesarstone® Organic White™ to complete the look.

For continuity, Built to Desire continue the Organic White™, black and timber into the laundry and bathrooms stating “We were definitely able to hit the brief on this one!”

Kitchen 5 by Weston Kitchens Featuring Rugged Concrete™:

Caesarstone® Rugged Concrete™
Design: Weston Kitchens

Opting for the versatility and the authentic industrial feel of Caesarstone® Rugged Concrete™, Weston Kitchens pair the textured surface with matte black cabinetry and real timber elements to create a stylish yet functional kitchen space.

Using shades of grey and timber for this otherwise monochromatic palette adds texture and visual harmony to the design.

The seamless integration of the appliances adds to the sleek, contemporary feel of this black kitchen.

Kitchen 6 by Carrera By Design Featuring Primordia™:

Kitchen 7 by Ian Bennett Design Featuring Pure White™:

With a brief to combine simplicity with the desire for seamless open-plan living, ‘Concrete House’ is a nod to clean, minimalist lines and simple modernist form.

Using black to frame this kitchen, Ian Bennet Design uses black cabinets for the base level units of the kitchen and Pure White™ benchtops on the kitchen island, back benchtops and splashback.

Contrasting the harshness of the concrete walls internally and externally with the preciseness of the black and Pure White, Ian Bennett Design soften the look with beautiful timber accents in the living spaces and kitchen to add a lovely layer of warmth.

Kitchen 8 by Sydney West Kitchens & CSR Design Consulting Featuring Alpine Mist™:

Caesarstone® Rugged Concrete™ & Alpine Mist™
Dining Table: Caesarstone® Cloudburst Concrete™
Design: Sydney West Kitchens & CSR Design Consulting

Keeping practicality in mind, CSR Design Consulting put a lot of thought and detail into bringing these kitchen design ideas to life.

Pairing black and teak cabinets with Alpine Mist™ and Rugged Concrete™, the designer explains “Wanting the look and feel of matte finishes and to use timeless colours and materials that complement the rest of the house was a big influence on the colours and finishes we chose.”

Tying the colour palette into the living spaces the designer incorporates a beautiful custom-dining table using the delicate grey of Cloudburst Concrete™.
