The Doreen Baker Community Kitchen for CWA

Friday, February 06, 2015

Caesarstone together with Freedom Kitchen has proudly supported Guy and Jules Sebastian’s family charity by donating surfaces toward a new kitchen for the Gunnedah Branch of the Country Women’s Association (CWA).

The CWA Gunnedah Branch boasts 43 proud members ranging in age from 40 to 90 who service a population of almost 8,000 by catering for community groups including the Red Cross, Meals On Wheels and rural workers affected by drought and hardship.

The kitchen was officially opened at a special high tea fundraiser hosted by Jules Sebastian which has been named The Doreen Baker Community Kitchen in honour of CWA Gunnedah member Doreen Baker who, despite being completely blind, published a cookbook from recipes collated from the community.

“Food is definitely an integral part of our family and I have so much respect for the work these ladies do by cooking so selflessly for their community and using food as a way to show their love and care,” said Guy Sebastian.

“We are grateful for the generous support shown to us by Freedom Kitchens by helping us make this next project happen, I just hope Jules brings be back some scones,” he added.

Caesarstone would also like to thank Tamworth Stone for kindly carrying out the fabrication and installation of the Caesarstone Ice Snow surfaces for The Doreen Baker Community Kitchen.
